Peter Fischli in conversation

  • Free, no reservation required

To mark the occasion of the closing of People Planet Profit, Peter Fischli is joined in conversation by Vassilis Oikonomopoulos, Artistic Director and Eimear Martin, Curator at LUMA Arles.

Together, they will reflect upon Fischli’s exhibition at LUMA Arles, his creative process and artistic practice after over three decades as part of the groundbreaking conceptual duo Fischli/Weiss. They will address contemporary image-making in a dizzying world of signifiers, symbols, and infrastructures that vie for our attention, endlessly circulating, choreographing our movements, shaping our perceptions, and emotions.

Peter Fischli is known for his longstanding critical engagement with the aesthetics of the everyday and systems of meaning, through works that playfully upend the distinctions between art and life.

Peter Fischli

Peter Fischli (born 1952) lives and works in Zurich. After three decades of collaboration with David Weiss, who died in 2012, Peter Fischli now works as a solo artist. Spanning various media, his practice continues to deal with the question of the filters of attention that mediate our relationship to the world, as well as the thresholds of the personal and the historical, and between the artistic and non-artistic.

His recent projects include exhibitions at Galerie Buchholz, Berlin; By Art Matters, Hangzhou; Kunsthaus Bregenz; Aspen Art Museum, Colorado; The Museum of Modern Art, New York City; Reena Spaulings Fine Art, Los Angeles and New York City.
