To the Moon
by Tadhg O’Sullivan
Ireland | 2020 | 1h16

To the Moon is a collage film, a homage to the Moon, composed of international archival footage and images shot by renowned cinematographers, interwoven with literary fragments. The film revisits the imagery of cinema history where the Moon takes center stage: tales of love and madness, songs of longing and loss, dreams of innocence, and nightmares of colonialism.

And what if it was just a huge fraud started by the two superpowers? The precursor to take news? Director William Karel has looked into the United States’ relationship with the image, the cinema and their ability to create a “spectacle”. Which story could better lend itself to this view than the conquest of space, a war of images and spectacle above all else?
