Chiara MARIOTTI is an elementary particle physicist. She builds detectors and conducts research on the Higgs boson at the LHC accelerator at CERN. She has held leadership positions in experiments at LEP and LHC. She founded the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group of physicists and theorists, which was instrumental in the discovery and measurement of the Higgs boson. She is also a musician and has coordinated a scientific and artistic band, where she plays the flute during sonification events. She was awarded the Emmy Noether Distinction for Women in Physics by the European Physical Society (EPS) in 2018.
