Georges Didi Huberman

Georges Didi-Huberman has written numerous publications that challenge art-historical methodologies and open them up to a theory and philosophy of the image that includes psychological queries pertaining to art and the gaze. Since 1990 he has been maître de conférences at Centre d'Histoire et Théorie des Arts at l'École des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris. He has also taught at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore; Northwestern University, Evanston; University of California, Berkeley; University of Tokyo; Freie Universität Berlin; and the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. He has curated several exhibitions, including "L'Empreinte" at Centre Pompidou (Paris, 1997). In 1997, Didi-Huberman received the Hans Reimer Award from the Aby Warburg Foundation and in 2006 the Gay-Lussac Humboldt Award for research.
