Ghislaine Verrhiest-Leblanc

Director of DREAL Government inter-regional manager for flood risks in the Mediterranean arc, she holds a Ph.D and has carried out research in risk prevention. She has twenty years of experience in hazard prevention and has occupied various positions; for example, industrial risk prevention, control of nuclear plants, and natural risk prevention such as earthquakes, forest fires, floods, and landslides. She is also the Vice-President of the French Association for Earthquake Engineering and holds a diploma in paraseismic engineering from the National Architectural School of Marseille. Working with the minister of ecology since 2001, she is currently serving as a project chief for flood prevention in the Mediterranean arc. Her mission is closely linked with the civil safety authorities, the four concerned regions, the 23 departments exposed to rapid floods, and the local territorial authorities.
