Accessibility at the Parc des Ateliers

In order to ensure that every visitor can fully enjoy his or her experience at the Parc des Ateliers, LUMA Arles has put in place a series of systems to facilitate access and circulation for people with disabilities.

Whether it's a question of physical adaptations, specific accompaniment or adapted tools, everything is designed to make the site welcoming, comfortable and accessible to all.

 

For any request or special needs, the Visitor Services Department is available to facilitate your arrival and your visit.

Generalities

The Parc des Ateliers is accessible to everyone.

Free and priority access is granted to all disabled visitors and the person accompanying them.

Priority access to ticketing and reception is granted to all visitors who cannot withstand prolonged standing.

The Parc des Ateliers offers special devices to ensure a comfortable visit to every visitor.

The Parc des Ateliers is equipped to offer every visitor the best possible experience.

Access

  • By car

At the Parc des Ateliers, 10 parking spaces are reserved for people with disabilities who own a parking permit.

Entrance to this parking is located at 53 chemin des Minimes, 13200 Arles.

  • By bus

Different bus lines stop by the Parc des Ateliers, the closest stop to The Tower is the Victor Hugo stop. Lines Agglo 20, L1 and L11 make a stop at this station.

Reception services

  • Priority

Anyone with a disability and their companion are entitled to free, priority admission to the Parc des Ateliers, on presentation of proof (an inclusive mobility card or a certificate of disabled adult allowance).

For people parked on dedicated parking spaces at the Parc des Ateliers, entrance by the Level - 2 to The Tower is preferred. 

  • Orientation

Inside The Tower, reception officers are posted to inform, to orient and to loan equipment. Call totems to call reception or security personnel can be found at the parking spaces located at the Parc des Ateliers and the entrance of The Tower.

Elevators serve all levels of The Tower. Doors handles, end of handrails of the stairs and directories in the elevators are braille identified.

A tactile model of the Parc des Ateliers helps visitors find their way around. The model is located at the Tower entrance.

Sound terminals are placed at the entrance of each building. Indoor GPS is available on the EVELITY app (downloadable below). A magnetic induction loop is available at the entrance of The Tower.

  • Restrooms

Adequate sanitary facilities are accessible on levels -2, 0, 1, 2 and 7 of The Tower.

In the park, adequate sanitary facilities are accessible in the building Les Forges.

  • Equipment on lend

The Parc des Ateliers and its surroundings are accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. The Visitor Services Department offers wheelchairs - including a very large one - and seats on lend. Magnifying glasses and lamps can be booked or requested upon arrival. This material can be picked up at various points at the Parc des Ateliers.

Access to the exhibitions and artworks

Any difficulties in accessing the exhibitions will be mentioned by the reception staff.

The slides of the artwork Isometric Slides by Carsten Höller, located level 2 of The Tower, are accessible to visitors with motor disabilities. Comfortable departures and arrivals are possible using a mobile transfer platform.

Mediation

Guided tours are accessible to hearing-impaired people with a nomadic magnetic induction loop system.

An Easy to Read and Understand booklet is available at the entrance to The Tower to make certain works in The Tower and the park accessible to visitors. Audiodescription and French sign language content will be available shortly.

Evacuation

In the event of an evacuation (sound signal, flashing light), visitors with disabilities can contact a receptionist or a security / safety officer at the Parc des Ateliers.

In order to prepare for your visit, the Visitors Services Department can send you the accompanying protocol for the evacuation of visitors with disabilities or senior citizens in the event of a disaster.
