Biographies des artistes exposés

Born in Hangzhou in 2002, Qianyi Bao has been studying at the Shanghai University of Visual Arts since 2021. Focusing on ethnographic research and the preservation of traditional cultures, his work explores how traditions coexist alongside modernisation within Chinese ethnic groups. In 2021, he participated in a survey on popular beliefs in the Luquan Yi and Miao Autonomous County in Yunnan. Since 2024, his research has extended to the herding communities of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in south-eastern Tibet. He considers himself to be a “Collaborative Observer” thanks to his documentary work, which puts him in a position to take a humanist view of the modernisation and transformation phenomena among herding and nomadic populations.
